Just months after Mercedes-Benz launched the facelifted S-Class in India, it’s now time for its Maybach version. The Mercedes-Maybach S 580e is priced at Rs 3.35 Crore (ex-showroom), making it Rs XX lakh more expensive than the standard S-Class PHEV (priced at Rs 2.20 crore).

The Maybach S 580e is the first plug-in hybrid model for Mercedes-Benz’s luxury car division in India. It comes with a 3.0-litre straight-six engine paired with an electric motor and all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Maybach claims that the S-Class can do an electric-only range of up to 100 km, with its 22 kWh battery pack. It also supports 11 kW AC charging and 60 kW DC charging support, and Mercedes-Maybach will provide an 11 kW AC charger free of cost to every S 580e buyer.

It looks similar to the S-Class facelift, and that’s kind of obvious, since it’s based on it. However, there are a few Maybach touches to it, like the illuminated Maybach wordmark on the grille, numerous Maybach logos in the bumper, Maybach logos on the C-pillar, and Maybach-specific headlights.

Inside, it’s a similar story too. The luxury levels in the Maybach have been dialled up to 11, compared to the standard S-Class. It runs Mercedes-Benz’s new MB.OS system, which means there’s a new user interface for the infotainment system. The MB.OS system also runs a vast majority of the car’s functions. Interestingly, the digital driver’s display has a 3D effect and looks very neat.

It’s the rear seat which is the million-dollar experience you get with the car. It comes with a special button that closes the door automatically, has individual screens for entertainment, a remote control for the said screen and other car functions and even Mercedes-branded noise-cancelling headphones.
