Mercedes-Benz has brought the updated AMG G 63 to India, with prices starting at Rs 3.60 crore (ex-showroom).
The familiar 4.0-litre V8 now comes with mild-hybrid assistance, adding a 22 bhp boost to the engine’s already existing 577 bhp and 86.68 kgm of torque. Mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it always promised quick acceleration but now, it may just do it quicker. This G 63 now clocks 0-100 kph in 4.3 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 240 kph.
While the updates boost comfort and tech, its off-road prowess remains as strong as ever, offering 229 mm of ground clearance, a 700 mm water-wading depth, and the ability to tackle 35-degree inclines. Optional extras include the AMG Active Ride Control suspension and larger 22-inch wheels.
Visually, the AMG G 63 sports a redesigned front bumper with vertical slats, a dark chrome grille, and reworked A-pillars, which Mercedes states is for better aerodynamics. It also offers customisation options such as a carbon fibre spare wheel cover.
Inside, the facelift introduces the latest MBUX hyperscreen infotainment system, which comes with the standard slew of Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. The hyperscreen consists of two 12.3-inch screens for the centre and driver console. Sound is delivered through an 18-speaker Burmester sound system. Keyless entry is also now available for the first time in the G-Class.
The first batch of 120 units is already spoken for, with new reservations expected to see deliveries by Q3 2025.
