That’s the updated Maruti Suzuki WagonR in an all-new vibrant colour scheme. It is now available with two new colour combinations — Gallant Red with Black roof and Magma Grey with Black roof. Other updates come in the form of refreshed interiors, the addition of idle start-stop tech (petrol variants) and hill hold assist (AGS variants), to name a few.
Inside, it gets a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio with smartphone navigation and four speakers. Plus, it’s also going to offer cloud-based services. Features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system and front seat belts reminder, are standard.
The WagonR comes with two powertrain options — a 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engine. It’s only the 1.0-litre motor that’s available in both petrol and S-CNG fuel options, producing 66 bhp without the CNG kit, and with the S-CNG kit installed, it produces 60 bhp (CNG mode) and 64 bhp (petrol mode). As for the 1.2-litre motor, it has a decent 89 bhp and 11.52 kgm. Also, the automatic gearbox (AGS) is only available on VXI and above petrol variants.
Maruti claims that the 1.0-litre petrol engine now delivers 16 per cent higher mileage, whereas the 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 19 per cent higher mileage than the outgoing model. That’s 25.19 kpl (petrol mode) and 34.05 km (S-CNG mode) for the 1.0-litre petrol, and 24.43 kpl for the 1.2-litre.
The prices for the tall-boy hatch now starts from Rs 5.39 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 7.10 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The WagonR also has a monthly subscription plan, starting from Rs 12,300.
