Rockstar’s latest extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI has given petrolheads plenty to get excited about. The nearly 27-minute preview doesn’t just showcase the game’s characters and criminal escapades; it also reveals a remarkably detailed automotive world, with everything from classic muscle cars and street racers to luxury SUVs and dedicated race cars.
Among the cars spotted is a BMW E30-inspired convertible, while another luxury SUV appears heavily influenced by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The trailer also gives glimpses of performance machinery drawing inspiration from Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Nissan and BMW. As usual, Rockstar avoids direct real-world branding, but the influences are hardly subtle.
What makes the car culture particularly interesting is its sheer variety. GTA VI appears to go beyond simply filling the streets with vehicles and instead builds an entire automotive ecosystem around them. The footage shows street racing, track racing and off-road action, including dirt bikes and purpose-built competition cars. There are even scenes that look inspired by real-world racing circuits, suggesting that driving could play a much bigger role in the experience than simply getting from one mission to another.
Rockstar also appears to be making vehicle ownership and theft more involved. Cars can reportedly be broken into using different methods, while stolen vehicles can be taken to customisation garages, adding another layer to the game’s automotive obsession.
And then there is Leonida itself. The new game isn’t confined to Vice City. Rockstar has created its largest GT world yet, incorporating multiple regions and environments across the fictional Florida-inspired state. Reports suggest the complete map is around three times the size of the Red Dead Redemption 2 map, making the scale of the world significantly greater than anything Rockstar has previously attempted.
That larger map should give the cars more room to breathe, from dense Vice City streets to rural roads, highways and off-road environments. With its huge world and increasingly authentic car culture, GTA VI could end up being as much a celebration of automotive madness as it is a crime game. And honestly, that sounds pretty perfect for GTA.
