At Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year, Skoda unveiled the Vision IN SUV concept. As Skoda gears up to launch the production version of it soon, we run through some of our favourite things about the car.
Design
The Vision IN is the first made-for-India product to come out as part of Skoda’s India 2.0 strategy and has been designed keeping Indian customers in mind. If you strip away some of the concept car’s outlandish features, you’ll see that there’s a handsome SUV underneath it all.
A wide grille, sharp lines and stunning side profile has us excited to see the production version in the flesh. Sadly, we don’t think the light-up grille will make it to production.
Interior
You can see some Indian influence inside the Vision IN as well. Its textured dash has been inspired by the textile printing art of Kalamkari. The production interior will definitely be more subdued, but we fully expect to see this floating infotainment screen make a comeback in the production interior.
Engine Options
The Vision IN was always supposed to come with a 1.5-litre TSI engine under the hood. The same one that does duty in the Volkswagen T-Roc, paired to a 7-speed DSG.
There won’t be a diesel engine on offer for the Vision IN, but there will be a second petrol engine available. A 1.0-litre TSI engine mated to either a manual transmission or a torque-converter automatic will be available.
Technology
Apart from the aforementioned floating display for the infotainment system, the Vision IN also features LED lighting all around, a virtual cockpit digital dashboard and plenty of USB ports to keep everyone happy.
Price
With a high level of localisation, the production version of the Skoda Vision IN is going to be priced very competitively to its competition like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
