The French too, want to cash in on the mid-size SUV segment, which the Koreans, the Indo-Japanese and the Germans seem to enjoy a majority share of. Showcased earlier this year, the Citroen C3 Aircross has finally been launched at a starting price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), but hold your horses for now, because while bookings are open for an amount of Rs 25,000, deliveries will only commence from October 15 onwards. We’ve driven the Citroen C3 Aircross extensively, and you can check out our review here!

At first glance, the Citroen C3 Aircross looks like a C3 on steroids with its broad, upright stance, the presence of skid plates and protective cladding, but we’ll let you be a better judge of its looks. At 2610 mm, the C3 Aircross has a longer wheelbase than the Hyundai Creta. The C3 Aircross is also available in two configurations — a normal five-seater, and a 5+2 seater. The 5+2 seater gives you the option of completely removing the third-row seats should the need arise — this should definitely be handy in any situation. If you like taking the untrodden path, you’ll be glad to know that this SUV gets 200 mm of ground clearance.

The Citroen C3 Aircross gets only one engine option for now — the 1.2-litre turbo petrol which is shared with the C3 hatchback. This engine puts out 108 bhp and 19.3 kgm of torque, and is paired to a six-speed manual transmission. There are talks of an automatic transmission somewhere around the corner as well, but it might be a while before we see it.

Speaking of equipment, the Citroen C3 Aircross gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, a 7-inch digital TFT cluster, hill-hold, ESP, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, and an automatic start / stop system. The 5+2 seater version additionally gets roof-mounted A/C vents — something that’s strangely missing in the five-seater version. Another glaring omission is a sunroof, which nearly all of its rivals receive as standard.

A full price list shall be announced later, but with a starting price like this, the Citroen C3 Aircross shouldn’t feel any pressure then, right?
