The ever-popular Hector has been launched with the option of a CVT gearbox. MG Motor India has kept the eight-step CVT exclusive to the five and six-seater Hector, with prices starting at Rs 16.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Thus, the 2021 Hector’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine comes with four gearbox options – MT, Hybrid MT, CVT and DCT. Furthermore, the CVT gearbox-equipped variants of the Hector come with two driving modes – Eco and Sport.

Moreover, the Hector CVT is available in two trim levels – Smart and Sharp. The top-end CVT-equipped variant (six-seater Hector Plus – Sharp) retails at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Hector’s rivals on the CVT front include the Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Other than that, the recently launched facelifted Hector comes with several changes, both on the inside and outside. Externally, there’s a new chrome grille, skid plates and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Hector now comes equipped with front ventilated seats, dual-tone interior (Champagne and Black), auto-dimming rear-view mirror and wireless charger. MG has also updated the i-Smart system with a few neat updates and the ability to accept Hinglish voice commands. Furthermore, there’s also a new addition to the Hector family – the seven-seat version of the Hector Plus. It gets all the aforementioned changes but instead of the two captain seats, it has a bench seat. Which automatic gearbox would you prefer on the 2021 Hector – CVT or DCT?
