Love it or hate it, this is the all-new BMW M4 Competition Convertible, and it does the 0-100 kph sprint quicker than a rear-wheel drive M3 and M4! It still has the 3.0-litre in-line six turbo engine, but now gets a 59-bhp bump over its predecessor. Producing 503 bhp and 66.22 kgm of torque, paired to an 8-speed auto ‘box, sending all the power down to its four wheels. Also, this is only available in the Competition trim.
The roof on the convertible now has a soft top, which is apparently 40 per cent lighter than the last gen’s hardtop roof. This one does get a few independent technical updates over the M3 and M4. For instance, it features specially adapted axle geometry and an individually tuned steering ratio. Also, up front, it gets aluminium shear panel and torsion strut towers at the rear. Even though it has an all-wheel drive system as standard, but it will distribute the torque to the rear wheels whenever the situation demands. Switch off DSC, and you switch to 2WD mode, the power is now only sent to the rear wheels.
The Competition variant has a lot of optional features like the M carbon bucket seats, interior trim strips in carbon fibre high gloss, head-up display, among many others.
