Brace yourselves, Bimmer fans! The 5 Series is coming back, and it seems BMW is following a top-down approach here, straightaway offering the full-blown all-electric version, the i5 M60 xDrive. Bookings have commenced, and deliveries will begin from May 2024. However, you might want to act fast; it’s coming in as a CBU and in limited numbers.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive comes with all-wheel drive, producing 592 bhp and 83.61 kgm of torque from its electric motors. Triple digits come up in just 3.8 seconds, and it reaches a claimed top speed of 230 kph. Backed by a 81.2 kWh battery pack, the i5 M60 xDrive claims to cover 516 km on a single charge, and while fast charging options may differ, it will be available with a 11 kW AC charging setup, which should top it up fully in a claimed 8.5 hours.
Inside, you get the familiar BMW Curved Display setup, with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touch screen. There’s also the flat-bottom steering wheel from the iX, along with the round glass iDrive controller, while the snazzy-looking interaction bar also works as an ambient lighting unit.
BMW says deliveries will be done on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis from May 2024. As of now, it hasn’t disclosed any booking amount, and final prices will be revealed later. However, we can expect it to be around the Rs 1 crore ballpark.
