With the arrival of the Tata Altroz Racer in town, the Hyundai i20 N Line has got some competition. How do the specifications of these hot hatches compare? Let’s find out!

The Altroz Racer gets a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine under the hood, which produces 118.2 bhp and 17.33 kgm of torque. The contender from Hyundai gets a 1.0 litre turbo petrol, producing an almost identical 118 bhp and 17.5 kgm. Both these engines are 3-cylinder units.

As you would expect from a hot hatch, the Altroz Racer get a six-speed manual gearbox. The i20 N Line gets two options for the transmission — a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT.

Coming to the dimensions, the Hyundai i20 N Line is 5 mm longer and 20 mm wider, with a wheelbase measuring 79 mm more than the Tata boy. The Altroz is 18mm taller though. Both the hatches get 37 litre fuel tanks and 16-inch tyres.

Talking about the design, both the cars look sporty and cool. The Altroz is a bit more on the curvier side while the i20 is more edgier and sharp. The Altroz Racer has three colour themes on offer — Atomic Orange, Pure Grey and Avenue White, all with dual-tone treatment. The i20 N Line gets both mono and dual-tone colour options — Thunder Blue, Abyss Black, Atlas White, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Thunder Blue with black roof and Atlas White with black roof.

The interiors of the Altroz Racer follow an all-black theme, with orange inserts on the dashboard, orange footwell lighting, and tri-stripe treatment on the seats. Notably, it offers first-in-class ventilated seats (rejoice Delhi-NCR buyers). There’s an electric sunroof on offer too, with voice commands, a 10.25-inch touch screen, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, a 7-inch TFT digital cluster and connected car-tech among other creature comforts.

The interiors of the i20 N Line are swathed in black as well, but with signature red inserts, and along with that, you get a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, voice commands with support for 10 regional languages, seven-speaker Bose sound system, cooled glovebox, voice-assisted sunroof and many more features.

The Altroz Racer is being offered in three variants — R1, R2 and R3. The i20 N Line comes in two variants — N6 and N8. Prices for the Altroz Racer range from ₹ 9.49 Lakh to ₹ 10.99 Lakh, whereas the same for the i20 N Line range from ₹ 9.99 Lakh to ₹ 12.51 Lakh.
