More from Motoring

MG Motor India has been silent on the product front for some time. However, breaking this silent streak for MG is the 2024 Astor, which, interestingly, has been launched at the same date as the 2024 Kia Sonet. Prices for the 2024 Astor begin from Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom), and they go all the way up to Rs 17.89 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end Savvy variant.

While the 2024 Astor retains the same design and set of powertrains, MG has now made it more accessible with the addition of a new base variant called ‘Sprint’, which will only be available with the 1.5-litre nat-asp petrol powertrain. The 2024 Astor now also comes with additions to its equipment list, with features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad for your smartphone, along with wireless smartphone connectivity, and an auto-dimming IRVM.

The cabin retains the same layout as well

Given how AI seems to be on everyone’s minds these days, the Astor retains the AI-driven assistant, and it also retains the level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, speed assist, high beam assist, forward collision prevention, and lane assist functions among many others.

The 2024 MG Astor goes up against a bunch of rivals in a very hotly contested space. While it primarily competes against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun among others, the recent price drop also sees it go against the newly-launched Kia Sonet facelift.
