More from Motoring

The latest update to the Yamaha Fascino is the introduction of hybrid technology in its powertrain. It now uses the starter motor to supply power when starting from a stop or under sudden acceleration. This reduces the insecurity caused by the wobble during start-outs in tandem riding or during uphill climbs. And after three seconds from starting or when the throttle is cut back or the engine rpm exceeds the prescribed level, its Power Assist function is cut out. The rider will know when the Power Assist function is in operation via the indicator light on the dash.

Powering the Fascino is a 125cc single-cylinder engine that puts out 8 bhp and 1.05 kgm of torque. Thanks to the hybrid tech, there is a marginal increase in its torque than before. There will be two options on offer, one with the disc brake and one with the drum brake. Now, there are a few cosmetic updates as well on the scooter. Starting with the all-LED headlamp and DRL, followed by more tech in the form of connected features. One can use ‘Locate My Scooter’ to spot the scooter and it will instantly turn on the hazard lights for you, all this via an application. Of course, the fully digital instrument cluster is also an added advantage here. Along with that, it will also have four new colour options added to its existing lineup. Now, the Fascino’s launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the current one is priced between Rs 74,000 to 77,500, (ex-showroom). Stay tuned for more updates on it.
