BMW’s latest offering in the sports adventure category, the S 1000 XR has been finally launched and will be sold in India as a CBU. Priced at Rs 20.9 lakh, ex-showroom, India, the S 1000 XR will only be available in the ‘Pro’ variant.

It’s powered by a 999cc four-cylinder engine that makes 163 bhp@11000 rpm and peak torque of 11.62 kg-m@9250 rpm. It will also have longer gear ratios for the 4th, 5th and 6th gears, which will ensure a reduction in engine noise level, less fuel consumption and a low rpm while cruising. There shouldn’t be any fuss with overtaking either, as the S 1000 XR will easily reach 100 kph in 3.3 seconds.

Further updates on the sports adventure tourer include a new 6.5-inch TFT screen, standard electronically adjustable suspension, four riding modes and more configurable settings. By more configurable settings, we mean, the S 1000 XR’s ABS, traction control, engine braking and wheelie control can all be separately configured.

Lastly, the S 1000 XR will be available in two colour choices, Ice Grey and Racing Red. There are also additional accessories available straight from BMW if you wish to go all out with your tourer.
