More from Motoring

As we are cruising through 2021 with a breeze of launches, here’s another one. Indian Motorcycle has officially launched the Chief lineup at a starting price of Rs 20.75 lakh, ex-showroom. The lineup includes the Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse and Super Chief Limited. These cruisers fall in a similar price range as the BMW R18 and the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.

Powering these motorcycles is a 1890cc Thunderstroke 116 air-cooled V-twin engine, which by the way, also comes with cylinder deactivation technology. This humongous V-twin engine delivers 16.5 kgm of peak torque@3200 rpm. Up front, the Chief offers conventional 46 mm forks with 132 mm of travel and a 28.5-degree lean angle, which is favourable for technical riding. It even offers a short wheelbase of 1625 mm, a low seat height of 660 mm and now tips the scale at 304 kg (wet weight).

On the equipment front, all three motorcycles have ABS and Ride Command System as standard, which lets you choose between two different gauge configurations. In addition to that, it offers bike and ride information, turn-turn navigation and Bluetooth phone connectivity. These controls can be accessed via its 4-inch touchscreen display or through grip controls. As far as features are concerned, the Chief gets all-LED lighting, cruise control, three selectable riding modes, keyless ignition and a USB charging port.
