Ather Energy has dropped the first official teaser of its upcoming EL-platform electric scooter, offering the clearest look yet at the production-ready model ahead of its global debut at Ather Community Day on August 29, 2026. The image, shared by co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta, shows the scooter on the production line and confirms that the company is gearing up to enter the mainstream family scooter segment.

The teaser reveals a scooter that remains largely faithful to the EL-01 concept showcased at Community Day 2025. It retains the handlebar-mounted headlamp, wide LED DRL integrated into the front apron, and a clean, understated design aimed at family buyers. Unlike Ather’s existing 450 range, the new scooter also appears to feature metal body panels instead of polymer ones.

Built on Ather’s all-new modular EL platform, the scooter is expected to use a silent gear-drive motor and support battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh, depending on the variant. The platform has also been engineered with an integrated onboard charger and longer service intervals, helping Ather target a broader customer base with lower ownership costs.

The production scooter is expected to feature a 14-inch front wheel and a 12-inch rear wheel, along with a spacious floorboard and practical ergonomics suited to everyday commuting. It is also likely to pack Ather’s latest software suite, including navigation, smartphone connectivity and advanced rider-assistance features.

Expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), the new EL-based scooter will sit below Ather’s premium offerings and rival models such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida range. Ather is expected to reveal the scooter’s complete specifications, variants and prices at its Community Day event on August 29.
