Kawasaki has given the Ninja 500 a rather predictable, but entirely welcome, splash of green for the 2027 model year. India Kawasaki Motors has launched the MY27 Ninja 500 in the company’s iconic Lime Green colour, with prices starting at ₹ 5.76 lakh, ex-showroom.
There are no dramatic mechanical changes to talk about here. Instead, the MY27 Ninja 500 continues with the same combination of approachable performance, sporty styling and everyday usability that has made the middleweight Ninja an important part of Kawasaki’s line-up. And frankly, it looks rather good in green.
Same Ninja, More Lime Green
The Ninja 500 continues to carry Kawasaki’s familiar SuperSport-inspired design language, complete with sharp bodywork and twin LED headlights. The Lime Green finish gives it the sort of visual presence you’d expect from a motorcycle wearing the Ninja badge, while reinforcing its connection to Kawasaki’s racing identity.
The motorcycle also gets a modern TFT instrumentation panel with smartphone connectivity, bringing a useful dose of technology without turning the cockpit into a small television studio.
Ergonomics have been designed with everyday riding in mind, too. Kawasaki says the riding position is comfortable and natural, making the Ninja 500 suitable for everything from urban commuting to longer journeys.
451cc Parallel-Twin Power
At the heart of the Ninja 500 is a 451 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. Kawasaki has tuned the motor to deliver strong low-and mid-range torque, along with smooth power delivery.
The engine is paired with an Assist & Slipper Clutch, which helps make gear changes smoother while reducing the effort required at the lever. It should also make the bike a little more forgiving when you’re getting enthusiastic with downshifts.
Kawasaki has not announced a change to the engine’s output for the MY27 model in the supplied release, so there is no new power figure to report. What the company does emphasise is the engine’s balance of performance and usability, rather than outright numbers.
That is rather the point of the Ninja 500. It isn’t intended to be a frighteningly fast motorcycle that happens to have a number 500 attached to its name. Instead, it is designed to offer enough performance to entertain experienced riders while remaining approachable for newer ones.
Lightweight Chassis, Everyday Usability
Underneath the bodywork sits Kawasaki’s lightweight trellis frame, which has been designed around agile handling and predictable cornering behaviour. The chassis is intended to give riders confidence when tipping the bike into a corner, while the rider-friendly ergonomics make it suitable for longer periods in the saddle. Kawasaki says the combination should make the Ninja 500 accessible to newer riders without taking away the involvement expected by more experienced enthusiasts.
It is this blend of characteristics that gives the Ninja 500 its appeal. You can use it for the daily commute, point it towards your favourite set of corners at the weekend or simply disappear for a longer ride without needing to make an excuse for owning it.
