Along with the highly awaited Lifestyler pickup, Mahindra has also unveiledd the BE 6 Sporteq — a revised version of its popular compact e-SUV with a redesigned cabin, more technology, fresh colours and a performance-focused special edition.
The biggest visual change is inside. From the ‘two’ variant upwards, the BE 6 Sporteq gets a wide three-screen dashboard, adding a dedicated display for the front passenger. The cabin also gets a revised centre console and a new interior treatment, while the top-end versions bring more equipment than before.
Mahindra has also packed the Sporteq with new software. There are six new technology suites covering entertainment, personalisation, driving and security, along with ‘TEQ Talk’ — an AI-powered voice assistant developed with Google Gemini. It can handle things such as navigation, music and vehicle functions using natural-language commands.
And because apparently an electric SUV isn’t complete without a gaming console, the BE 6 Sporteq gets in-car gaming, karaoke and Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. There’s also a digital key that works with compatible iPhones, Apple Watches and Android devices, plus NFC key cards.
For those who want a little more excitement, Mahindra has also introduced the Formula E-inspired Freedom Edition. It gets a more aggressive look, tricolour detailing and the original BE 6 headlamp design, along with a black-and-orange cabin.
More importantly, it gets an ‘Acceleration Boost’ function that cuts the 0 to 100 kph time to 6.44 seconds. The Sporteq continues with the BE 6’s existing battery options, including 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh packs. The range starts with the ‘one’ variant, which costs Rs 19.45 lakh with the battery included. Under BaaS, the entry price drops to Rs 11.45 lakh, with battery usage charged at Rs 3.75 per kilometre.
At the other end, the range tops out at Rs 26.95 lakh for the ‘four’ and Launch Edition, while the Freedom Edition starts at Rs 24.45 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom and exclude the wall charger and installation.
The good news for existing owners is that Mahindra isn’t keeping all of this technology locked away in the new cars. Several of the Sporteq’s software features will be rolled out to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through over-the-air updates from January 2027, depending on the model and variant. Deliveries of the BE 6 Sporteq will begin on 26 August 2026.
So, rather than being an entirely new BE 6, the Sporteq is more like the original car after a serious software and equipment upgrade. It gets more screens, more toys and more ways to personalise it and. Not a bad way to keep an already distinctive EV feeling fresh, we say.
