Bajaj Auto has introduced two new additions to its Pulsar lineup — the Pulsar N160 S and the flagship N160 SS — as the company marks 25 years of the Pulsar brand. The existing N160 will continue to remain on sale alongside the new variants.
Powering both motorcycles is a new 164.5cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, SOHC four-valve engine producing 18.2 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox and replaces the two-valve motor on the new variants. Bajaj claims a 0-60kph time of 4.5 seconds.
A key highlight is the introduction of Electronic Throttle (ETB), which enables four riding modes — Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road. The system also supports Crawl Technology, which is designed to make slow-speed riding in traffic easier by allowing the motorcycle to move smoothly at low speeds without frequent clutch operation.
The Pulsar N160 SS further distinguishes itself with electronic traction control and a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Google Maps mirroring. Both variants feature dual-channel ABS, while the SS also gets adjustable control levers, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, and coloured alloy wheels.
Suspension duties are handled by 37-mm USD forks and a rear monoshock, while braking comes from a 300-mm front disc and a 230-mm rear disc. The motorcycles have a kerb weight of 151 kg, a 795 mm seat height and a 165 mm ground clearance. The rear wheel is shod with a 130-section radial tyre.
The new Pulsar N160 S is priced at Rs 1.33 lakh, while the Pulsar N160 SS costs Rs 1.42 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). Both models will be offered in Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White and Brooklyn Black.
