Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated Harrier.ev in India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio. Priced starting at ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Harrier.ev brings some familiar design with a whole lot of technology, and impressive performance, positioning it as a strong contender in the premium electric SUV space.

Under the hood—or rather, under the floor—lies a powerful electric setup that delivers a staggering 390-bhp and 50.38 kgm of torque, making it one of the most powerful EVs in its segment. Tata claims a range of 627km on a single charge, which should significantly reduce range anxiety for most buyers but Tata have also claimed real world range of between 480 to 505 km per charge, especially considering India’s expanding charging infrastructure. In terms of performance, the Harrier.ev sprints from 0-100kph in just 6.3 seconds, offering not just eco-conscious mobility but genuine driving thrills.

The Harrier.ev is offered in three distinct variants, or “Personas” as Tata calls them—Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered—each catering to a different style of customer. Adding to the appeal is the introduction of a Stealth Edition, a first in Tata’s EV range. While full details are still under wraps, this edition is expected to come with exclusive styling elements that emphasize a more aggressive and premium aesthetic.

Inside, the Harrier.ev doesn’t hold back on tech or luxury. The highlight is a massive 14.5-inch Samsung-sourced touchscreen infotainment system, paired with a 12.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster that gives the cabin a high-tech, futuristic vibe. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and memory front seats, and the cleverly named Boss Mode, which allows rear passengers to adjust the front passenger seat for extra legroom. Safety and convenience are top priorities, too, with features like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, six airbags, electronic parking brake (EPB), and Level 2 ADAS, bringing semi-autonomous capabilities into play.

Tata’s terrain response system gets a major update here with five driving modes—Sand, Rock-Crawl, Mud Ruts, Custom, and Normal—making the Harrier.ev more versatile than ever. It also introduces Summon Mode, which allows the SUV to autonomously move forward or backward in tight parking spaces, and AWD capabilities branded as QWD (Quattro-Wheel Drive), enhancing the Harrier’s off-road credentials and everyday drivability.

With the launch of the Harrier.ev, Tata Motors has taken a significant step forward in India’s electric mobility journey. The combination of performance, tech-laden interiors, bold design, and segment-first features makes it a formidable rival to the likes of the on the higher end side with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and MG ZS EV and on the lower end goes up against Hyundai Creta EV and the Mahindra EVs. It also strengthens Tata’s leadership in the EV space, showcasing how the brand is not just keeping up with global trends, but actively setting them. For buyers seeking a premium, high-performance electric SUV with a made-in-India badge, the Harrier.ev is a compelling choice. We’ll be getting behind the wheel of the Tata Harrier.ev very soon, so stay tuned for our in-depth review and real-world impressions!
