With Royal Enfield’s Rider Mania, er, Motoverse, right around the corner, our long-term Bullet 350 was in dire need of a thorough service to get it shipshape. This being the first time I am riding it to Goa for the biking festival, it only makes sense to do it right. And by right, I mean it should glisten in the Goan sunlight once we get there, with no hiccups along the way.
Having braved the monsoon out in the elements, the first thing that could be noticed was how stiff the clutch lever had become. This can be attributed to the clutch cable, which needed replacement. Next on the list were the brakes, which weren’t as effective as they should be due to regular wear. Once we reached the service centre, the service team started out with a general service, followed by an oil change, and replaced all the wornout cables.
On the visual front, they had the engine buffed to a mirror finish, gave it a thorough wash, and then concluded it with a coat of Teflon polish to return it to a sheen similar to what can be seen on a bike on display on the showroom floor. A lot of elbow grease has gone to get it back to its full glory, and now I’ll see to it that it stays this way. Now all that remains is for me to pack my bags and set out on that ride down the coast to the promised land.
