MG has unveiled the all-new futuristic MG4 EV. It is the first to be built on the Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), which will also underpin future MG EVs. The styling seems very futuristic and aerodynamic, keeping in line with modern EV design.
The MG4 still incorporates the aggressive styling seen in current MG models such as a sporty front bumper, strong character lines and bold alloy wheels. It gets a chiselled rear with connected tail lamps, as well as a unique looking split-rear roof spoiler.
A detailed list of features is not out yet, but the MSP platform will allow for over-the-air updates as well as Pixel Point Cloud Comprehensive Environment Mapping (PP CEM) by MG, which is needed for autonomous driving tech.
The MG4 will initially be offered with two powertrain options. A 168-bhp powertrain, paired to a 51-kWh battery, or a 201-bhp option paired with a 64-kWh battery pack. Both drive power to the rear wheels, with the 201-bhp MG4 variant capable of a zero to 100 kph sprint in under 8 seconds and a top speed of 160 kph. That’s not all for the crossover, as MG plans to bring in more powerful all-wheel drive variants.
As for range, the MG4 is capable of WTLP-claimed 350 km (51 kWh) and 450 km (64 kWh) ranges on a single charge. While it is confirmed to launch in the UK soon, there’s no news of its arrival on Indian shores yet.
