What is this now?
The new Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T. Lusso T could actually work as a nice rapper name.
New Ferrari, new Ferrari!
Wait, hang on a minute. This is isnt an all new Ferrari. Just the GTC4 Lusso with a new V8 engine. And that ‘T’ stands for ‘turbocharged’.
Wait, didn’t this come with a V12?
Yes. Essentially, the second generation of the Ferrari FF, the GTC4 Lusso was launched with a big fat 6.3 V12 earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Also it came with that magical thing called ‘natural aspiration’.
So, smaller engine and now it is turbocharged? Sigh.
Well 601 bhp is nothing to sigh about. That is how much this 3.9 turbocharged V8 makes. Infact, this is the same engine which is found in the California T, but with 49 bhp more. So make things a bit more rosier, the Lusso T produces more torque than the naturally aspirated V12, 77.5 kgm.
Torque-shmorque. Is it faster than before?
Ferrari says that it will go past 60 mph (97 kph) from standing start in 3.5 seconds. If you are brave enough, the speedometer will go past 320 kph after a little while. Also it has ditched the insanely complicated Ferrari ‘4RM’ all-wheel-drive system, and is now rear wheel drive only. Better weight distribution, and is now lighter by 50 kg. Pretty neat, yes?
So I cannot use it on my farm anymore like Harry Metcalfe?
It is quite difficult to please you lot, isnt it? But then, look at the bright side. It will quite a bit cheaper than the V12, and infact will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe and the Bentley Continental GT V8. Time to hit the configurator!
