Isuzu has seen a rather positive response from the Indian consumers. The company grew almost 50 per cent last year while introducing more products and expanding its dealer line up. On the commercial vehicle part, India-made range of D-Max and mu-X SUVs have played an important role, contributing to the growth of Isuzu. Headquartered in Chennai, Isuzu currently manufactures four variants of D-Max and S-cab under the pick-up truck segment.
D-MAX – Single Cab, Crew Cab: D-MAX pickup has a payload carrying capacity of 1.1-tonne in a 45 sq-ft loading bay. The range is powered a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel, producing 132 bhp and 310Nm, with the power being routed to the rear wheels via five-speed transmission. With graphite coated pistons and anti-friction liner, together with a platform that has been tested for 40 lakh kilometres stamps the D-Max’s credentials of reliability and ruggedness. Some other noteworthy features are a three year/ 1 lakh kilometre warranty, a 90 amp alternator for easy customization and a load sensing proportioning valve for the brakes. Although the interiors miss a number of creature comforts which are available on the V-Cross, the D-Max pickup still gets Air-conditioning as standard and a six-way adjustable driver seat.
