The 993 generation of Porsche 911 is a memorable car, and it’s made even more special by Paul Stephens at Autoart. The Porsche Autoart 993R has lost a lot of weight and gained power. Paul Stephens started with a narrow-body 993-generation 911 Carrera and incorporated components from Porsche’s GT squad and original equipment from the race-bred 993RS. These factors contribute to a ’25 per cent improvement in every area,’ says Paul. The primary goal was to make the 993R lighter, more powerful and more capable on the road.

To save weight, the team replaced the electrically operated sunroof with a lighter fixed roof, and a composite panel was attached to the bumpers. The aluminium bonnet and lightweight glass came from Porsche Motorsport. The factory seats make way for a set of lighter Recaro buckets. Also gone are the air conditioning, electric windows, central locking, glovebox, centre console, audio system and even door grab handles. As a result, the 993R’s wet weight has decreased from 1,370kg to 1,220kg.
