Mahindra has set its priorities right, with the all-new Thar securing an impressive 4-star safety rating by Global NCAP. For a body-on-frame SUV, the Thar has set the highest safety rating. And that goes for all the Thar’s variants.

At the Global NCAP test, in both the Adult and Child safety the Thar secured a near-perfect score of four stars. It is indeed a proud moment for the Indian brand as the Thar’s entire safety simulation and development was carried out at Mahindra’s Chennai research centre.

As for safety features, the Thar has a good mix. For instance, it gets dual airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Hydraulic Brake Assist, 3-point seat belts for rear passengers, ISOFIX mounts for child seats at the rear, built-in roll-cage, Electronic Stability Programme with Anti-Rollover Protection, hill hold and hill descent control, among many others.

With the Mahindra XUV300 getting a Global NCAP 5-star rating and now this, we’re glad Mahindra has put the spotlight on vehicle safety. Now, Mahindra can you manufacture a four-door version of the Thar, please?
