Finally, Mercedes-Benz has launched two three-row SUVs in India, and you won’t be burning a massive hole in your wallet like you would if you bought the ginormous GLS. Speaking of price, the Mercedes-Benz GLB starts from Rs 63.80 lakh, whereas the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQB will set you back by Rs 74.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, India). Also, the EQB makes its way to India via the CBU route.

Now, the GLB gets two powertrain options. First, the 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 161 bhp and 25.49 kgm of torque, paired with a 7-speed auto gearbox. Second is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 188 bhp and 40.78 kgm of torque, mated to an 8-speed auto ‘box. Only the diesel unit gets an optional four-wheel-drive system. Pablo did drive the diesel-powered GLB 220d 4Matic; you can read all about it here.

As for the EQB, we only get the EQB 300 variant. There’s a slightly faster variant, the EQB 350, that’s sold globally. The EQB 300 comes with a 66.5-kWh battery pack that makes 225 bhp and 39.76 kgm of torque. This one also has an all-wheel-drive system, with power transferred to all four wheels through two electric motors (one on each axle). The EQB 300 has a range of 423 km (WLTP) and a warranty of 8 years from Mercedes-Benz on the battery pack. If you use an 11-kW AC charger, you can charge the EQB from 10 to 100 per cent in 6 hours and 25 minutes, and if you use the 100-kW DC fast charger, it can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 32 minutes. By the way, Pablo’s also driven the EQB 300; click here to read about it.
