The new generation of the KTM RC 125 and RC 200 have finally made it to our shores. As you can see, both the machines are heavily restyled than their predecessors. On the new machines, KTM’s now offering lighter alloys, disc brakes and a new built-on subframe among other features.
Now, both the RCs have quite a few things in common like the new headlamp setup. The RC 200 gets the LED lighting while the RC 125 gets a halogen unit. Further, it gets LED DRLs and indicators, a bigger and wider visor and a new curved radiator unit that KTM claims will offer 10 per cent better cooling. Not to forget, KTM’s also redesigned the fairing. Also, both the machines get new split seats with improved padding. Speaking of comfort, the clip-on handlebar is now taller, but can also be lowered by 15 mm. With a 13.7-litre fuel tank, touring on the RCs will include fewer fuel stops. The LCD instrument cluster that you see here might look familiar because it is borrowed from the KTM 250 Adventure. We’d have loved it if KTM would have got the TFT unit that’s offered internationally.
As for mechanicals, the RC 125 and RC 200 remain unchanged. Powering the RC the RC 125 is powered by a 124cc single-cylinder engine that produces 14 bhp and 1.2 kgm. Whereas, the RC 200 is powered by a 24-bhp 199.5cc single-cylinder engine that produces 1.9 kgm of torque. Also, KTM’s added a 40 per cent bigger airbox and new engine maps, but you’ll have to wait for our review to know if that changes anything.
Interestingly, with all that on offer, the prices for both the machines remain more or less the same. The KTM RC 125 is priced at Rs 1.82 lakh, while the RC 200 carries a sticker price of Rs 2.09 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
