The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV sets a new benchmark for electric luxury in India. With a colossal 107.8 kWh battery — the largest in any EV sold here — it’s the undisputed range champion. We’ve completed multiple Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai trips on a single charge, all in exceptional comfort, thanks to its cooled and massaging seats with 10 programs. The cabin is a sanctuary during India’s harsh summers, and the 56-inch Hyperscreen isn’t just eye candy — it’s functional, featuring a web browser that kept us engaged during charging stops, though more video streaming options would’ve been welcome.
Despite its 5.1-metre length and 2.7-ton weight, the EQS SUV handles city streets with surprising agility. Credit goes to the 10-degree rear-axle steering, which makes U-turns and tight manoeuvres effortless. Ride comfort is classic Mercedes, thanks to the standard air suspension, though the SUV’s heft is felt under hard braking.
Charging is impressively practical. Fast charging at one of Hyundai’s 150 kw stations gave us 200 km of range in 20 minutes, but on the flip side it is good to see more cross brand collaboration in terms of EV infrastructure, but if you plug this electric SUV into a home charger, it’s gonna show an estimated time of 29 hours. Real-world range sits between 550–600 km, more than enough for most users.
Priced at Rs. 1.43 crore, it’s an exclusive machine. The EQS SUV is in a class of its own — an all-electric flagship that redefines what’s possible on Indian roads. We are also really happy this has been in our fleet over this blistering hot summer.
