Nowadays matte colours are all the rage as Volkswagen has followed suit and launched the Matt Edition for the Polo and Vento. Carrying over a similar theme as its sibling, the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition; featuring gloss black touches to its exteriors like the door handles and outside rear view mirrors, and a black spoiler among other things. The matte grey paint and black elements go hand-in-hand with the sporty nature of the cars. The black touch is missing on the alloys, however. It would have made the VWs even sportier.
Inside, there’s nothing peculiar about them. The Polo Matt Edition is based on the GT trim while the Vento Matt Edition is available in the Highline AT and Highline Plus AT. For starters, it gets features like a multi-function steering control, a touchscreen infotainment system, voice control and cruise control to name a few. Since this is just a cosmetic change, the mechanicals remains the same.
Powering both the Polo and Vento is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine that produces 108 bhp and 17.84 kgm of torque. For now, the Matt Edition variants are only available in a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, the Polo Matt Edition is the cheapest amongst the matte colour gang which include the Volkswagen Vento Matt Edition, Skoda Rapid Matte Edition and the Kia Seltos X Line. Whereas, the Vento Matt Edition Highline AT is priced at Rs 11.94 lakh and the Vento Matt Edition Highline Plus AT is priced at Rs 13.34 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). That means both the VWs undercut the Skoda Rapid Matte Edition. But, which one would you pick among the matte colour lot?
