By the end of next year, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will set up a Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad which will be the largest one outside of North America and EMEA. FCA is going to invest as much as $150 million in this project and this will produce 1,000 job opportunities in the technology sector.
The main focus behind the Global Digital Hub is to build strategic competencies in niche technology areas that include connected vehicle programs, artificial intelligence, data accelerators and cloud technologies, among others. FCA has a strong presence in other parts of India as well. In its Mumbai headquarters, it employs over 3,000 people. It even has a joint venture vehicle and powertrain manufacturing facility in Maharashtra’s Ranjangaon. The Ranjangaon facility is where the Jeep Compass is assembled and exported to 13 international right-hand drive markets, which also includes Japan and Australia. Also, in its Pune and Chennai facility, the engineering and product development operations are carried out.
This is a huge step by FCA India which gives India the chance to develop digitally-driven products and technologies for India as well as for other countries.
