Launched earlier this month, the second generation Toyota Fortuner is clearly following the footsteps of its predecessor. Like with the Innova Crysta, Toyota appears to have cracked the success formula with the Fortuner, too.
In two weeks since the vehicle was launched, the company reports, more than 16,000 enquiries have been made for the seven-seat SUV. Not only that, in addition, over 5,400 bookings have been made. While variant-wise details aren’t available, there’s said to be a substantial orders for the automatic gearbox-equipped version.
In a segment that just about touches the 1,000 units mark every month, it’s quite an achievement. Given that it’s new and hugely anticipated, sales for the first few months are expected to be more than rivals’. That will obviously help the Fortuner gain momentum before settling for steady sales. Deliveries have begun and efforts are being made to make that as quick as possible.

The Fortuner, priced at Rs 25.92 lakh onwards, is offered with two engine options (2.8-litre diesel and 2.7-litre petrol), is available in both automatic and manual gearbox versions, gets an optional AWD system, and is more feature-rich than before.
