Renault has rolled out a new 10th Anniversary Edition of the Kwid in India, with prices starting at ₹5.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The special edition marks a decade of the Kwid in the country and brings with it some cosmetic tweaks inside and out. Alongside, Renault has also updated the standard Kwid range with more safety kit and a revised variant line-up.
Over the past 10 years, the Kwid has only seen one proper facelift, back in 2019. In recent times, its numbers have dipped, but with the price cut following the GST revision and this anniversary edition, Renault will be hoping for a sales bump in the entry-level hatchback space.
The 10th Anniversary Edition is based on the mid-spec Techno trim and can be had in two dual-tone finishes – Fiery Red with a black roof or the newly-introduced Shadow Grey with a black roof. Yellow detailing has been added to the grille, fresh decals have been slapped onto the doors and C-pillar, and the flexi wheels are now finished in gloss black.
Step inside, and the yellow accents continue. The steering wheel gets leather wrapping with contrast yellow stitching, while the infotainment housing, seat fabric, and door pads carry splashes of the same colour. The headrests feature a 10th Anniversary Edition logo, and Renault has also thrown in puddle lamps and illuminated scuff plates. Only 500 units of this special edition will be on sale.
With the update, the Kwid is now offered in four trims – Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Climber – replacing the older RXE, RXL, RXT, and Climber badge structure. The top-spec Climber gets a major safety upgrade with six airbags, compared to the earlier two. Across the range, all seats now get three-point seatbelts.
Mechanicals remain familiar. The Kwid continues with its 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol motor producing 68 bhp and 9.3 kgm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT. The entry-level hatchback continues to take on rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S-Presso.
