With the Revuelto, Lamborghini showcased the future of its iconic sports car lineup. Now, the Italian bull has shown us how its SUV lineup will stay alive, all the while preserving the combustion engine as well. Meet the Lamborghini Urus SE.
The Urus SE is the first plug-in hybrid SUV from Lambo, and it features a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine, working in tandem with an electric motor housed within the 8-speed automatic transmission. Together, this hybrid system produces 800 bhp and a mammoth 96.91 kgm of torque! How quickly does it hit triple digits? In just 3.4 seconds, while maxing out at a top speed of 312 kph. This makes it faster than the Urus S.
That sounds nice, but are there any driving modes? Yes, 10 of them to be precise! The Strada, Sport, and Corsa modes are meant for road and track use, while Neve, Sabbia, and Terra are there for when you’re feeling adventurous, if you catch our drift. Lastly, it gets EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge modes.
Wondering what the Urus SE does in EV Drive mode? 60 km of claimed range, while also being capable enough to reach 130 kph. Anything higher than that and the ferocious V8 rumble will make its presence felt.
A new centrally-located electric torque vectoring system placed longitudinally makes its debut on the Urus SE. What it does is that it distributes torque in a variable manner between both the axles continuously. The transfer case works in tandem with the new e-differential on the rear axle. This gives the Urus SE ‘on-demand’ oversteer to mimic the experience of driving a sportscar.
The Lamborghini Urus SE also gets cosmetic tweaks, beginning with a redesigned hood which does not feature a cut-off line this time around. The grille and front bumper have also been redesigned, new headlights featuring Matrix LED technology, with a new signature inspired by the Italian car maker’s bull branding.
The rear sees a comprehensive redesign as well, with a redesigned tailgate inspired by the Gallardo, and also consisting of a new diffuser and spoiler. Lamborghini says the new diffuser helps reduce downforce by 35% at higher speeds when you compare it to the Urus S.
The interiors of the Urus SE retain Lamborghini’s ‘pilot’ design DNA. However, there is now a larger 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment on offer, sharing its software and UI with the Revuelto.
Given how quickly Lamborghini got the Revuelto in India after its global debut, we will not be surprised if the Italian car maker chooses to do the same with the Urus SE. However, don’t expect it to be readily available; who knows it might already get snapped up?
