After months of staying around the 12,000 mark, Tata Motors has sold 16,311 passenger cars in the month of October. Tata says that this higher-than-usual number is due to the increased demand for the Tata Tiago, which was launched earlier this year. Which is a good thing, because the Tiago, ever since its launch, has been selling in the 4,000 unit/month range, which is not exactly segment-leading numbers. In the coming months though, with launch of the Tata Hexa, the Kite 5 and the Nexon, the monthly sales numbers should comfortably cross the 20,000 cars a month mark. Good times ahead.
Importantly, for Tata Motors, their commercial vehicles division has also seen strong growth in October, with 30,169 numbers sold. Much of the higher sales was due to their range of light commercial vehicles, who’s numbers have grown 21 percent since October 2015, while the sales of heavier trucks have grown slower by nine percent. Exports have also see a healthy growth, with 6,333 numbers exported, which is 39 percent higher than the numbers achieved in October 2015.
