Shown back in 2022, the Tata Curvv EV is finally set to enter production form. The car maker has rolled out the first set of teasers on social media, and we are certainly going to be drip-fed more and more info about the car in the coming days.
Just to reiterate, this is the Curvv EV that will be launched very soon, not the ICE version. Tata Motors had showcased a concept version of the ICE Curvv back at the Bharat Mobility Expo, which looked closer to production. However, Tata was always clear that the EV will make its debut first, while the ICE version will follow.
The Curvv EV will be underpinned by Tata‘s second-gen acti.ev platform, which supports front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and rear-wheel drive as well; now that is something very interesting to think about. The Harrier.ev is confirmed to receive all-wheel drive, and there seems to be a good chance the Curvv EV might follow the same route too. Better yet, why not shock us all and give us rear-wheel drive?! While other details remain under wraps, we know that this platform could offer between 300 to 600 km of range on a single charge.
The acti.ev platform was unveiled earlier this year, and made its debut with the Punch.ev, which has become quite popular among buyers. This platform will also spawn the electric iterations of the Sierra, Harrier, and the Safari. Furthermore, the platform is also capable of featuring Level 2 ADAS capabilities at a later stage.
With the Tata Curvv EV, India is set to receive its first, homegrown SUV coupe. And it also gives hope that the Sierra could also come back to life very soon!
