The Tata Altroz JT… (I have to stop dong that!) erm, I mean, the Tata Altroz Racer has finally arrived, with prices ranging between Rs 9.49 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, you must be wondering, why another turbo-petrol engine option in the Altroz lineup? Well, now there’s just this option, because the existing iTurbo has been discontinued.
From the ongoing social media campaigns, you must’ve seen the Atomic Orange paint scheme multiple times. Don’t worry though, there are two other options as well; Pure Grey, and Avenue White, with dual-tone treatment obviously, to differentiate it as the flagship Altroz variant in the lineup. It also gets 16-inch 10-spoke alloy rims, and twin white stripes on the hood and the roof.
Inside, the Altroz Racer continues with an all-black theme, with orange inserts on the dashboard, orange footwell lighting, and tri-stripe treatment on the seats. In terms of equipment, the Tata Altroz Racer is the first in its segment to offer front ventilated seats, and other kit includes an electric sunroof with voice commands, a new 10.25-inch touch screen, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, a four-speaker sound system with four tweeters, connected car tech, a 7-inch TFT digital cluster, and rear A/C vents among other things.
Under the hood, like we reported previously, the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol produces 118.2 bhp and 17.33 kgm of torque, paired to a six-speed stick shift (Gallardo is going to enjoy the media drive!)
Apart from the Racer, Tata has also introduced new variants of the regular Altroz; the XZ Lux can be had from Rs 8.99 lakh onwards, the XZ+S Lux from Rs 9.64 lakh onwards, and an upgraded version of the XZ+ OS from Rs 9.98 lakh onwards (all prices ex-showroom).
