Tata’s recently updated Altroz has bagged a five-star crash test rating under the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) programme, making it one of the safest hatchbacks on sale right now. The facelifted model managed 26.65 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.90 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). In the front offset deformable barrier test, the hatchback offered strong protection for the head, neck, chest, and lower body, while leg protection was rated as adequate. In the side impact with a movable, deformable barrier, chest protection came out marginal, though it scored well in the tougher side pole impact test.

Altroz Facelift

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift now comes with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, and an airbag cut-off switch as standard across the range, further strengthening its safety package. This is also the first time the Altroz has been tested under BNCAP norms, and it’s the second instance of the hatchback being awarded a five-star rating overall. The earlier pre-facelift version had achieved five stars for adult safety but only three stars for child occupant protection.

Bharat NCAP said that the five-star rating will be applicable to all variants of the facelifted Altroz currently on sale – petrol as well as CNG.

Altroz Facelift

Introduced in May 2025, the facelift is the most comprehensive update for the Altroz since its debut in 2019. The car gets refreshed styling inside and out while continuing with its familiar set of petrol and diesel engines. With the latest crash test results, Tata has underlined its focus on safety yet again, giving the Altroz a stronger edge in India’s premium hatchback segment.
