Epiq is what Skoda is calling its newest EV, but is it really epic? That answer might be a couple of years away for now, but the concept is giving some hope. From the six EVs Skoda has planned globally, the Epiq concept is the second to have been unveiled, with a production-spec model to be revealed globally in 2025.
The Skoda Epiq measures 4100 mm in length, which is interesting, considering manufacturers in India are developing compact EVs. Skoda says the Epiq also follows the ‘Modern Solid’ design philosophy, with a front-end similar to the Vision 7S concept. It features the ‘tech-deck’ face with a gloss black finish, which is also a futuristic rendition of Skoda’s current butterfly grilles. Hidden behind the tech-deck face are the radars for ADAS, and a camera.
The interiors will also be based on Skoda’s Modern Solid design language, with a focus on sleek and simple lines. While a two-spoke steering wheel will continue to feature, it will feature the new Skoda lettering instead of the logo that we see in its current cars. The Epiq will also get a 5.3-inch digital cluster, and a 13-inch infotainment screen. Skoda says your mobile phones will function as a digital key for the Epiq, thereby becoming the first Skoda to feature such technology.
While drivetrain and battery specifications remain unspecified for now, the Czech car maker is aiming for a range of 400 km on a single charge. The Epiq will also feature vehicle-to-load charging technology among other things.
