Mini India has launched a limited edition model christened the John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition, and there are only 15 units available. As one would imagine, this is a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit. It comes in only exclusive colour option (Racing Grey Metallic) and has an ex-showroom price of Rs 46.90 lakh. Although inspired by the John Cooper Works GP, the Inspired Edition isn’t as powerful or as track-focussed. To be exact, it makes 69 bhp less than the GP.

The Inspired Edition is powered by a 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder, twin-turbocharged engine which produces 228 bhp and 32.63 kgm of torque. This motor comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. There’s even a limited-slip differential, for when things go sideways. Oh, and it can do the ton in just 6.1 seconds. Mini has also given John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition driving modes to tune comfort, sportiness or efficiency.

On the outside, the John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition gets a contrasting Melting Silver Metallic roof, mirror caps and John Cooper Works rear spoiler. Furthermore, the 18-inch John Cooper Works Cup Spoke 2-tone alloys come with GP badged Wheel Hub Caps. On the inside, there are John Cooper Works Sports Seats in Leather Dinamica finish with GP badging. Additionally, the panorama glass roof also adds to the sense of occasion.

As standard, it gets two airbags, Brake Assist, 3-point seat belts, Dynamic Stability Control, crash sensor, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control and Run-flat Indicator. Mini has also surrounded the iconic 6.5-inch circular central instrument panel with an LED ring. Other equipment includes Apple CarPlay, Mini’s navigation system, Harman Kardon audio system. How’s that for a special edition of an already rare piece of machinery?
