More from Motoring

At a basic retail price of Rs 3.88 crore, ex-showroom, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS not only is the fastest production 911, it’s also the current range topper. Launched today, the car boasts quite a few commendable feats including a Nurburgring lap time of 6m43s, a top speed of 340 kph, and the ability to slingshot to 100 kph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds.

Basic things first: it’s rear-wheel drive; comes with a PDK gearbox (fitting considering it’s all about going fast, this car), carbon ceramic brakes and rear-axle steering; and tips the scale at just under 1.5 tonnes. It’s also the easiest of the 911s to identify, owing largely to the aerodynamic fitments, exclusive bonnet stripes, among other things.

The 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine makes 690 bhp and 76.5 kgm. And that makes the car capable of above-mentioned figures. But if you think a bit more performance won’t hurt your everyday drive, there’s also the optional Weissach pack, which further adds removes 30 kilos from the car. Apart from the huge wing at the rear, there’s also the 325-section tyres ensuring that the GT2 RS never runs out of grip.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS Interior

And the car’s interior isn’t any less special, either. Bare carbon weave finish, red Alcantara, black leather, there’s  quite a lot of materials but none of that would come in the way when you want to drive. Because Porsche knows how to keep the driver engaged. In this case, there are things like the sports steering with paddle shifters, bucket seats, and if opted for the Clubsport package, a roll cage and six-point driver harness.

Director of Porsche India, Pavan Shetty said, “This is a great day for sports car fans in India. The 911 GT2 RS is the concentration of Porsche’s motorsport expertise into one high-performance model that also masters everyday driving. Despite its superior racing dynamics, this top 911 model is as predictable and reliable to handle as any other Porsche. We are seeing an increasing demand for true sports cars in India, and with vehicles like the 911 GT2 RS, we are confident Porsche is well placed to meet that demand and offer a truly unique driving experience on the road and the racetrack.”
