Haas has announced that reserve driver Oliver Bearman will join the team as a full-time Formula 1 driver next year. The Ferrari Academy talent had been anticipated for the position following his impressive performance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where he finished seventh after stepping in for Carlos Sainz.

Bearman expressed his excitement about the new role, stating that it was “incredible” to become a fully-fledged F1 driver. He conveyed his pride and gratitude to the Haas team for their belief in him.

Team principal Ayao Komatsu praised Bearman’s development and readiness, citing his maturity and performance in previous practice sessions and races. The team is looking forward to nurturing his talent further.

Bearman has been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2021, winning the Italian F4 championship that year and securing third place in the F3 championship in 2022. He moved up to F2 last year, achieving four wins and finishing sixth in the championship.

As Bearman prepares for his new role, he will participate in several FP1 sessions for Haas, starting with Silverstone and continuing in Hungary, Mexico, and Abu Dhabi.

Haas has yet to decide on Bearman’s teammate for 2025, with Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, and current driver Kevin Magnussen among the candidates.
