JSW MG Motor India is set to launch the long-range version of the Windsor EV, which is going to be called the Windsor Pro. Set to launch tomorrow, the updated EV will feature a bigger battery pack, better range, better safety and improvements in the interior with more technology. Let’s take a closer look at what to expect from MG’s latest offering:

What’s new on the outside?

While the brand’s teaser shot doesn’t reveal many details, it appears that the Windsor Pro will be offered with new alloy wheels similar to those on the Hector SUV. Apart from that, the rest of the styling cues on the vehicle remain identical to those on the Windsor that is on sale.

What is new inside?

As for interiors, the layout is identical to the Windsor, apart from the teaser image hinting at black and beige leather upholstery, faux wood trim and copper details. Other features such as a central, large and floating touchscreen infotainment system, two-spoke and flat-bottom steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster will be carried forward.

New safety tech

One major difference between the Windsor and Pro variants is safety. MG will offer an ADAS suite for the Windsor Pro, and the teasers mention Pro style and Pro convenience, hinting at some feature additions.

Larger battery pack

The Windsor Pro is expected to be powered by the same electric motor as the standard version, which puts out 134 bhp and 20.39 kgm of torque. However, the larger battery pack is the most significant difference between the standard variant and the new Pro variant. While MG hasn’t announced the exact battery size, it is likely to share the same 50.3 kWh battery pack offered in the ZS EV. The larger battery pack will extend the range from 332 km (claimed) on the standard variant to 460 km (claimed) on a single charge.

Expected Price

Considering the larger battery pack, the updated MG Windsor EV will carry a notable premium over the current model. It will continue to rival the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 EV, and the Tata Punch EV.
