When Kia first showed the Sonet concept at Auto Expo 2020, it attracted a lot of attention. Now it’s time to see what the production version looks like. This new SUV will slot in under the wildly popular Seltos. Now, the Seltos was an instant success with its phenomenal design and long list of features. The Sonet hopes to recreate that success with the same philosophy. Like all Kia vehicles, the Sonet also features the iconic Tiger Nose grille, this time with three-dimensional geometry inspired by the step-wells found in India. There is some great attention to detail as well. The Crown Jewel LED headlamps, Heartbeat LED DRLs and taillights all form a cohesive package. We don’t have a full variant list yet, but we do know there will be a GT line on offer. It adds sporty red accents on the front and rear bumpers, grille and side cladding.

As far as new technology and features are concerned, the Sonet has plenty. There’s a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation and live traffic updates, ventilated seats for driver and front passenger, wireless smartphone charging with cooling function, smart air purifier with virus protection, LED sound mood lamps, remote engine start with manual and auto transmission both and a 7-speaker BOSE audio system. The GT line trim gets red accents and trim as well, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel completes its sporty looks.

As far as powertrain options are concerned, we’re sure that it will share those with the Hyundai Venue with which it also shares its platform. This includes the new 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). In addition to that, it will have a diesel engine with an automatic transmission on offer as well.

On the safety front, the Sonet gets six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, projector fog lamps, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESC, HAC and other acronyms thrown in for good measure.
