MG has launched the Comet EV in India priced at Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom). Following the MG ZS EV, which was launched in 2020, the MG Comet EV is the carmaker’s second all-electric offering. Bookings for the MG Comet will commence on May 15, with deliveries to begin the same month in select cities.
Featuring a petite and quirky design, a boxy overall look, small wheels, a large windscreen, rectangular windows, and vertically stacked headlights, the Comet EV does make an effort to stand out. The MG Comet EV gets a 17 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 230 km. The car is powered by an electric motor on the rear axle and takes around 8.5 hours to charge fully with an AC charger.
On the inside, the MG Comet EV gets a 10.25-inch infotainment display, and a similar 10.25-inch instrument cluster too. The Comet offers wireless smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, over 100 voice commands and also the ability to use your smartphone as a shareable key.
MG has made it clear that the Comet is targeted at customers in the city and is not for those who travel more than 100 km every day and for those who go on long trips. The carmaker also offers several personalisation kits in the form of bodywork and decals to make the Comet stand out as per the customers’ choice.
