Mercedes-Benz has just launched the AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe, at a starting price of Rs 1.10 crore. Along with the AMG GLC 43 Coupe, the company has also launched the CLE Cabriolet AMG Line at Rs 1.10 crore, both ex-showroom India. The AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe is the go-faster version of the ‘regular’ GLC, and it’s also a stable-mate of the AMG C 43 sedan, albeit in a more practical SUV body style (because have you seen the roads out there)?

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe

The AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe has a 4-cylinder, 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, as well as a 9-speed automatic transmission. Don’t let the 2-litre number fool you; a healthy 416 bhp and 51 kgm are at hand, with the hybrid assisting to the tune of 13 bhp and 15 kgm. Some F1 tech has been thrown in, in the form of the electric exhaust gas turbocharger. As you can tell from its name, there’s an all-wheel drive system with four-wheel steering, as well as active exhaust and disc brakes all round.

Some AMG touches make the AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe stand out, principally the Panamericana grille, a new front bumper, 21-inch alloy wheels (you can option 20-inch wheels), a new splitter, a cool lip spoiler, quad exhaust tips and a rear diffuser. You can have your car in nine different colour options.

Inside, the dashboard now has carbon fibre inlays, instead of the regular GLC’s pinstripes. An AMG steering wheel takes pride of place, and the same 11.9-inch waterfall format infotainment touchscreen has been fitted, with an AMG button for settings. You also get a 12.3-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, HUD, wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera and cruise control, among very many others. Safety features, you ask? 9 airbags as standard, lane keep assist, active braking assist and more.

The AMG GLC 43 4Matic has the Porsche Macan in its sights, and that car comes in between Rs 96 lakh and 1.5 crore, ex-showroom. The Merc’s price therefore undercuts it, and if you’re a fan of the three-pointed star, it seems like the obvious choice. Our full review is here, so check it out!

Mercedes-Benz CLE C300

The Mercedes-Benz CLE C300 is a new car from the brand and while foreign markets have the coupe and cabriolet versions, we get only the latter and we aren’t complaining.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Cabriolet is a head-turner with its sleek, sporty design and low stance. Bits like the frameless doors, the muscular lines on the hood and the shoulders, coupled with the grille inspired by the C-Class and sporty bumpers only add to its visual appeal. The sleek CLE comes with 19-inch wheels, full-LED lighting and a folding soft top that can be raised and lowered in 20 seconds, at speeds up to 60 kph.

The CLE Cabriolet comes with only one powertrain in India. It uses the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a mild-hybrid system that boasts of a 20 kW boost over the 254.79 bhp and 40.78 kgm from the internal combustion engine.
