The Mercedes-Benz EQA has finally arrived, and unlike its rivals, the EQA is available in just the solitary 250+ trim. The EQA isn’t just based on the GLA, it is also the most affordable electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz till date. However, in its typical manner, Mercedes-Benz also surprised us with the launch of the updated EQB, as well as commencing bookings for the new electric G-Wagen, better known as the G 580. But let’s focus on the EQA here.
The Mercedes-Benz EQA appears similar to the GLA, but the EV-specific bits such as the closed-off panel replacing a grille, 19-inch alloy rims, and a completely new rear section reminiscent of the EQB differentiate it from the GLA. It also does not get a frunk, unlike the Volvo XC40 Recharge.
A 70.5 kWh battery pack gives it a claimed range of 560 km on a single charge, and while a standard 11 kW charger will take a claimed 7.15 hours for a full charge, a 100 kW DC fast charger will cover a 10-80% charge in a claimed 35 minutes. Power goes to the front wheels, and the output figures stand at 188 bhp and 39.25 kgm of torque.
The Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ comes packing an AMG-spec steering wheel, a 12-speaker Burmester sound system, AR-based navigation, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, three driving modes, an ADAS suite, seven airbags, and blind spot monitoring among other things.
With prices beginning from Rs 66 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ has competition from the BMW iX1, Volvo’s XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, along with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and also the Kia EV6.
