Maruti Suzuki has pulled the wraps off its new midsize SUV, the Victoris, which will sit at the very top of the brand’s Arena lineup. Positioned as the flagship model for this retail chain, the Victoris comes in six trims – LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI(O), ZXI+, and ZXI+(O). Built on the same platform as the Grand Vitara, the Victoris is slightly longer and has a more imposing stance. It also scored a full five stars in Bharat NCAP crash tests, making it one of the safest Maruti models on sale.

Design-wise, the SUV debuts a fresher language inspired by the upcoming e-Vitara. The nose gets a bold treatment with chunky LED headlights connected by a slim chrome-lined grille, thick body cladding, and a silver skid plate. From the side, it stands out with 18-inch alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars, squared-off arches, and silver roof rails. At the back, the highlight is a segmented LED light bar running across the tailgate, flanked by bold ‘VICTORIS’ lettering.

Under the hood, the Victoris sticks close to the Grand Vitara’s formula with three powertrain choices. There’s the 103hp, 1.5-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol, a 116hp, 1.5-litre three-cylinder strong-hybrid, and an 89hp, 1.5-litre petrol-CNG option. For the CNG version, Maruti has moved the tank to the underbody to free up more usable boot space – a smart packaging update. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter auto for the petrol, an e-CVT for the strong hybrid, and a 5-speed manual for the CNG. Buyers opting for the petrol-auto can also tick the all-wheel-drive box.

Maruti hasn’t held back on features either. The Victoris packs wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, connected car functions, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, a heads-up display, air filtration, and a powered tailgate.

On the safety front, six airbags are standard across the range, along with ABS with EBD, traction control, brake assist, hill hold, and ISOFIX mounts. Higher trims step things up with a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring, and, for the first time on a Maruti, Level 2 ADAS features.

The Victoris, then, is more than just a stretched Grand Vitara. With its sharper styling, wider features list, added practicality, and strong safety credentials, it’s clear Maruti Suzuki is aiming to give its Arena showrooms a proper flagship SUV.
