Mahindra has dropped the first teaser for its next big move in the three-row SUV game, and it comes with a new nameplate to match the makeover. Say hello to the XUV 7XO, the refreshed successor to the XUV700, set to break cover on January 5, 2026 – the same day prices go live. We’d spotted the 7XO name surfacing in trademark filings earlier, and now the teaser confirms exactly what Mahindra has been cooking.

From the quick flashes in the video, the 7XO leans into a sharper, more tech-forward look. You get dual-pod headlamps framed by inverted L-shaped DRLs, a layered black grille with silver accents, and tail-lamps that seem inspired by the new XEV 9S. Earlier spy shots add more pieces to the puzzle: redesigned bumpers, fresh alloys, a sleeker cabin with a three-screen layout, soft-touch surfaces, and a two-spoke steering wheel that feels very ‘new-age Mahindra.’
What this really means is that Mahindra hasn’t messed with the core mechanicals. The familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines are expected to continue with manual and torque-converter automatic options. But with the 7XO stepping in, Mahindra has officially confirmed that the XUV700’s production run will soon wrap up.
Test drives and bookings kick off once the curtain lifts on launch day — and judging by what’s been teased so far, the 7XO looks ready to pick up right where the 700 left off, only with a bit more swagger.
