Lexus India has made a significant change in its portfolio in the country by launching the ES 500e at Rs 89.99 lakh (ex-showroom), its first-ever all-electric model in India. At the launch, Lexus also said that the ES will be getting a hybrid version too, the ES 350h, but that will come later this year. The ES 500e is the first-ever all-electric model for Lexus in India.
The ES 500e packs a 74.68 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 580 km. It has a dual-motor setup with 338 bhp on offer, and Lexus claims a 0 to 100 kph time of 5.5 seconds. The new ES 500e also supports up to 150 kW of DC fast charging with a claimed charging time of 28 mins (10 to 80%). With the car, you’ll get a 2.8 kW portable charger as well as the option of an 11 kW AC home charger. It also comes with an 8-year/2 lakh km warranty on the car and the battery.
The new electric sedan is built on the TNGA GA-K platform and borrows its design from the Lexus LF-ZC concept, which was showcased in India in January 2025. Compared to the previous generation, the new ES has also grown in size. It’s now 170 mm longer, has an 80 mm longer wheelbase, is wider by 55 mm and taller by 130 mm. Even the ground clearance has increased by 20 mm, a feature unique to the India-spec ES.
Inside, the ES is very much a luxury sedan it always was. Front and centre is a massive, 14-inch infotainment touchscreen that, like a lot of modern cars, controls all the car’s functions. It also gets a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster that sits in its own binnacle, but unlike the rest of the interior, this piece gets suede fabric. The new ES also gets a Mark Levinson audio system, a wireless charger, multiple USB-C ports, and more. For safety, the new ES comes with 10 airbags, ISOFIX, traction control and ADAS.
