While the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 can take on a few of the homologation specials in terms of exclusivity, it’s not rarity alone the car banks on. In fact, even with just 300 units allocated for worldwide sales, rarity isn’t what makes the super-saloon so, er, super.
With an ability to make new fans faster than the eagerness with which an aroused teenager would drop underpants, SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) is responsible for what’s being termed as the most powerful, agile, and extreme Jaguar. And looking at the details, we can’t quite question the claim. The XE has sound underpinnings, but imagine the competitors’ plight, as it gets upgraded chassis and aero bits. Following the F-Type-based Project 7, the XE-based Project 8 uses a 5-litre supercharged V8 that makes 592 bhp.
Further details will be announced in two days, before its debut scheduled on June 30 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Lord March always has something special lined up for the FoS, and what can be better than an SVO-prepped ace Jag!
John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations said: “The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar. The SVO team is possessed by the spirit of performance and committed to creating the most thrilling driving experience imaginable.”
